Are you sure you know what to look for when buying a used car?

According to AAA Auto experts – only 25% of used car buyers look at the tires during the inspection of the vehicle. It is this element of the car that can reveal a lot about the condition of the vehicle

Tyres

When buying a used car, the only things on our minds are the engine, the body and the interior. It is worth to include to this unchangeable list also the condition of the tires.

All four tires should be in the same condition. Ideally, tread wear should be even across the width of the tire, on both sides of the vehicle. For example, a sign of uneven wear on the outside and inside of a tire can tell us a lot about the driving style of a previous driver. Heavy wear on the outside of the tread indicates an aggressive driving history

On the other hand, overinflated tires cause more wear in the center of the tread than in the outermost section, and vice versa for underinflated tires. If, on the other hand, the tires wear unevenly around the circumference of the tread, then we could be dealing with faulty brakes, steering, or suspension.

Therefore, it is important to also pay attention to the condition of the tires during the inspection process of a potential purchase. Often overlooked, it can provide key information.
