The ranking of the most and least failing cars was created by the German automobile club ADAC. They provide roadside assistance services. Thanks to the data collected by them it was possible to create reliable statistics. The latest edition of the ranking has just appeared

It has long been known that some cars enjoy complete reliability, and some very often visit mechanics. How does it look like in practice? Which models can boast of full efficiency, both on the road and in the city? Thanks to the latest ADAC ranking, statistics are able to tell us everything about the currently popular car models

How is such a ranking created? Thanks to the services offered by the German automobile club ADAC, specialists are able to check the level of intervention relating to specific models. This is compared with the number of units of each model registered in our western neighbors. The lower point value a car receives in it, the better.

So let’s check how the best and worst results for 2020 look like. Only cars from the 2010-2017 range could enter the ranking

Among the smallest cars, the Toyota Aygo did best. The result of defects per 1,000 cars ranged from 2.5 to 8.7 for vehicles from 2010 to 2017. The Germans were unable to identify the area most prone to defects in this car

Hyundai i10 boasted a range of 4.9 to 19.3. The most problems occurred with copies from 2014 – the beginning of production of the second generation of this model. Roadside assistance was called due to the infirmity of the battery and spark plugs.

In the category of the worst small car won infamously Smart ForTwo. Ratings for this German car ranged from 7.5 to 32.8. In cars from 2010 to 2013, the timing drive failed, in copies from 2010 and 2010 the problem turned out to be the automatic transmission. Exemplars from 2015 – 2017 failed with the battery, and from 2012 -2013 spark plugs required intervention. Also the Fiat 500 deserved its marks – it was rated between 7.1 and 29.5. What was the most common problem in this Italian car? Germans pointed to the battery (2011 – 2017) or the gearbox (2012 – 2015).

When it comes to the class of compact cars, Kia Ceed fared the worst. According to experts, the most problems are caused by copies from 2011 – 2013. The problem in these cars often turns out to be: the battery, starter, fuel pump or spark plugs

However, the best compact SUV, especially appreciated in our western neighbors, is BMW X1. Ratings from 2010 to 2017 are 1 to 9.3, a real hit. The best mid-range cars are BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 and Q5. The most discouraged, on the other hand, have become Ford S-max and VW Sharan

The list is a reliable source of knowledge, but it does not include, for example, defects that do not start the cars for good. However, it is undoubtedly an interesting compilation that can help you buy the right car for everyday driving
